The family portrait, everyone seems to have their own opinions on an idealised representation of their family. The way people have documented family and domesticated life has changed and evolved over decades as the private has become more public. In March 2020, I had to return home early from university with the rest of the country and therefore had to refocus the direction of my work. I became interested in the way my independence had been re-stripped and decided to document observations of my own family dynamics by leaving my camera hanging around my garden, creating scenes for my family to collaborate with me on.
What followed was a series of unconventional family portraits representing this period of confinement while embracing the circumstances to live harmoniously along side each other to make the days more bearable.
